Shannon, who is of Aboriginal descent, is regarded as one of the first true pioneers of wakeboard. From those years back in the early 1990’s when he moved to the USA to train and compete, Shannon’s flare and ambition saw him invent an entirely new trick called the SBend which became standard in the sport of wakeboard and eventually kite board. He has amassed over 10 years of success in wakeboard and was one of Australia’s first true professional wakeboarders.

Emma Habermann nee Sheers

Emma Sheers, a former World number 1 in both Jump and Slalom, achieved personal bests of 4 1/2 buoys at the 10.75 metre line in Slalom and a remarkable 55.3 metres in Jump. Throughout her career, she set five World Jump Records, including 48.2m at Sunset Lakes, USA in 1996, and 55.3m at Malibu Open, California, USA in 2002. She claimed two Junior World Jump titles and broke records like the 47.8m jump at the 1999 World Championships and the 3.25@10.75m slalom at the 2001 World Championships. With over 90 professional victories, Emma is a 17-time National Champion (Open Division) and holds 28 National Records. Recognised globally, she was named International Waterski Federation Athlete of the Year in 2003 and 2005, and won the 2004 Australian Sports Award for Individual Achievement. Inducted into the Sunshine Coast Hall of Fame in 2009 and the QLD Sports Hall of Fame in 2017, Emma served on the International Waterski Federation Board and was President of Waterski QLD for three years.

Around the world Joan Beretta was one of the most respected officials in water skiing. Joan was an international world class judge and officiated at multiple Junior & Senior World Championships, the Moomba Masters for nearly 30 years, multiple Asian Australasian tournaments along with being a senior judge at National Championships for over 40 years! From her beloved Geelong Water Ski Club right to the very top of our sport, there are very few who have contributed more.

Around the world Dave Beretta was one of the most respected officials in water skiing. Dave was a chief judge at the Junior Moomba Masters for 12 years, assistant chief judge at the Moomba Masters for approximately 10 years, chief judge at 15 National Championships, chief judge at the 1992 Junior World Championships and chief judge at the 1997 Disabled World Championships. From his beloved Geelong Water Ski Club right to the very top of our sport, there are very few who have contributed more.

Geoff has spent the best part of 40 years as one of Barefoot Water Skiing’s greatest contributors. He has served as one of Australia’s most respected judges both locally and internationally. He has managed and been a selector of many Australian teams along with being President of Barefoot Australia for 8 years. His commitment to Barefoot Water Skiing has been simply outstanding.

Brian has dedicated the past four decades contributing as a skier, team manager and official and administrator to the sport of barefoot waterskiing. During his time as a skier, he represented Victoria as an Open skier at multiple National Championships before retiring and going on to become one of the most respected contributors not just here in Australia, but around the world to barefoot waterskiing. A true footer through and through!

Robbie was an enduring presence in the sport of water skiing particularly show skiing. His passion and contribution to show skiing in Australia and around the world has very few peers. Robbie performed in over 200 Moomba Ski Shows along with being the announcer at 11 Moomba Ski Shows. Robbie was Mr Ski Show. Robbie sadly passed away in January 2020 after a short & courageous battle.

Tim was a 3 time Under 21 World Champion, an Open World Championship Silver Medalist, the 2012 Moomba Masters Jump Champion, 5 time Open Men’s Australian Champion and held the record for the longest jump on a 1.65 meter ramp at 69.6m. This is just a short list of his incredible achievements. An outstanding career sadly cut far too short through injury.

Michale’s career highlights are simply outstanding. She won the 8 Open Women’s Nationals Trick Championships, was crowned the 2004 Under 17 World Trick Champion, placed 3rd in Tricks at the 2005 Open World Championships, won the US Masters Trick title in 2007 and the Moomba Masters in 2007 & 2008 breaking course records. Michale has represented Australia at nine World Championships (Junior, Under 17 & Open combined) and was a finalist in all nine. Michale was also named All American Athlete in Varsity Collegiate Water Skiing in 2008,10 & 11. What an outstanding career!

As a junior, Ryan was ranked Number 1 in the World for Junior Men’s Tricks in 1993 and 1994, winning the US and Canadian Junior Masters Trick Championships in 1995 and the Junior Moomba Masters Trick and Overall Championship in 1994. He claimed multiple Australian National titles in Trick, Jump, and Overall. In his open career, Ryan earned a Bronze Medal at the 2011 World Championships in Men’s Overall and a Gold Medal at the 2005 World Games in Germany. He has multiple podium finishes in prestigious events like the London Night Jump, British Masters, French Masters, and Moomba Masters. He’s a 10-time Asian Australasian Trick and Overall Champion and a 14-time Australian National Trick and Overall Champion. He has captained the Australian Open Water Ski Team and holds numerous records in Australian and Western Australian Men’s events. He was the first Trick Skier to perform and land 6 flips and a Front to Front Mobius in competition.

Wayne is a two-time World Wakeboard Champion & regarded by many as one of the most talented individuals to ever stand behind a boat. His talents also extend to Ski Racing where he won three World Championships in 1997, 2009 & 2013. Wayne is a member of the IWWF Hall of Fame and this accomplishment gives him automatic inclusion into the WAWA Hall of Fame.

Kevin is a two-time World Champion and World Record Holder in the V1 (visually impaired) category. He has held world records in both the trick and jump event and holds the Australian record today in all 3 disciplines. Many will tell you that watching Kevin jump as a visually impaired athlete is one of the most inspirational things they have seen. A deserving champion.
